Composed by 60 musicians, BFRJ brought, since its foundation in 2010, quality music to all the levels of society, having peformed in several cultural spaces and important cultural events of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
The wind orchestra Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic Band - BFRJ is a non-profit cultural association whose main objective is to perform music for woodwinds and percussion at its highest level.
Since its foundation, in 2010, the orchestra performs quality music to all society levels and appears in various cultural spaces and important events in the cultural scene of the State of Rio de Janeiro, such as: Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Cecilia Meireles Room, Oi Casa Grande Theater, João Caetano Theater, Imperator - João Nogueira Cultural Center, Niterói Municipal Theater, Rui Barbosa House, Manguinhos Park Library, Villa-Lobos Festival, Rio Cello Encounter, Rio is Sax Festival and Candelária Project, among others.
Several national and international artists of different artistic manifestations have appeared together with the BFRJ such as: João Donato (piano), Nivaldo Ornelas (saxophone), Mauro Senise (saxophone), Jacques Mauger (trombone - France), Friedrich Kleinhapl (violoncello - Austria) Quinteto Rubato (Spain), Daniel Guedes (violin), Moringa Water Group, Márcio Gomes (singer), Clarice Niskier (actress) and Carlinhos de Jesus (dancer).
The orchestra orders and performs world and national premieres of original works for wind orchestra encouraging composers, in Brazil and abroad, to expand the repertoire for this instrumental formation.
The artistic direction and conducting of the Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic Band are in charge of Maestro Antonio Seixas.
