Composer and Arranger-in-Residence

A Graduate in music harmony with Julio Muniz (1997-1999) and Professor Dr. Carlos Almada (1998-2002) with emphasis in music counterpoint and arrangement . He also completed his studies of functional harmony and arrangement with Vittor Santos (2003-2008), including some studying of rhythmic conceptions and free counterpoint.

 

He studied with masters of the departments of percussion and brass of the University of Aveiro, Portugal, where he stayed during 2011, having performed some of his symphonic works . Self-taught in composition and orchestration but studied several composer´s works such as Paul Hindemith, Walter Piston and Rimsky - Korsakov. As an arranger, he writes frequently for several artists and orchestras in Brazil (and occasionally abroad ) with a wide variety of formations, from solo piano, duos and small - to big bands, orchestras, and wind orchestras; generally subscribes to the studio production of his arrangements .

 

Released a solo album, in 2009, titled " Bruno Marques " with his own compositions and 40 brazilian musicians, popular and symphonic scene, a work that received full credit for all media that covered , most notably the indication of a 5 stars  “O Globo” and “Estado de Minas” newspaper. Teaches every year, since 2008, free summer courses on harmony, arrangement and orchestration. Also teaches all academic levels for musicians, from undergraduate to doctoral degrees, besides being in the process of completing his book entitled "Harmony". Since 2006, develops extensive work as a symphonic composer. Among his compositions are sonatas, waltzes, concerts and symphonic overtures, by his ideas or by comission. Completed his Symphony No. 1 in 2013, in the case of a redemption that the structures of late Classicism / early Romanticism , with approximately 70 minutes long .
