Artistic Director and Principal Conductor

Mr. Seixas holds a PhD in Social Memory from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro and a Masters in Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he served as a Professor of Trombone and Tuba from 2001 to 2004 and 2006-2007. He studied trombone with Sérgio de Jesus and Gilberto Gagliardi, in Brazil, and Per Brevig, in the United States. In 1997 he won the III Prize for Young Soloists Weril Award. Mr. Seixas also won two times, the solo competition at UFRJ Symphony Orchestra . Also performed as a soloist with the Sergipe Symphonic Orchestra , in which he premiered the Eric Ewazen´s “Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra” in South America. Performances as soloist with  CSN Symphonic Band, Salesiano School Symphonic Band, UFRJ Brass and Percussion Ensemble and UFRJazz Ensemble. Maintains intense didactic activity and teaches courses and master classes 

throughout the country.


Since 2001, although several activities as trombone player, Mr. Seixas is dedicated to conducting and has participated in classes and courses in Brazil and abroad, with such conductors as Isaac Karabtchevsky, Douglas Bostock and David Effron among others.


Mr. Seixas is a founder and a conducter since 1998 of  the "Orchestra Barrados no Baile", with performances in Brazil and abroad such as the final ceremony of the International Luanda Business Meeting in Angola.


Mr. Seixas is also a guest preparatory conducter for the brass section of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and the Brazilian Symphony Youth Orchestra. Leaded the Brass Ensemble of UFRJ in the periods he served as Professor at that institution. Guess conducter in July 2008 and 2009 for the Workshop called Symphonic Band at XV and XVI International Winter Festival in Domingos Martins (ES). Also, Artistic Director of I and II South Fluminense Brass Encounters, held in January 2010 and July 2012 in Barra Mansa city. Professor of conducting at  Banda Larga Project at Santo Antonio de Pádua e Valencia cities . Participated in 2012, the XXX Music Curitiba Festival ministering Symphonic Band Practice and Brass Ensemble Practice .


Mr. Seixas has been a guess conducter at: Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Recife Symphony Orchestra, Porto Military Band and Matos de Galamba Philharmonic Band (Portugal), Pontevedra Music Band (Spain), Barra Mansa Symphonic Orchestra, Brazilian Symphony Youth Orchestra, Barra Mansa Symphonic Band and Petrobras Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble.           


Mr. Seixas is currently Artistic Director and Conductor of the Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic Band and member of WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles ).
